Habakkuk 2 (TLB)

I will climb my watchtower now and wait to see what answer God will give to my complaint. And the Lord said to me, “Write my answer on a billboard, large and clear, so that anyone can read it at a glance and rush to tell the others.  But these things I plan won’t happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled. If it seems slow,do not despair, for these things will surely come to pass. Just be patient! They will not be overdue a single day!

Ever since I was a child I knew that God will be returning for his people. Persons would predict God’s return taking place on a particular date. I would wait anxiously only to fall asleep and awake the next morning realizing  that my reality remained the same and that life goes on.

Non believers in God will scoff at Christians and our faith trying to dissuade us. Trying to change our mind and heart against our strong belief in a savior who will indeed return for us.

 The bible tells us in Matthew 24:36 (TLB)

But no one knows the date and hour when the end will be not even the angels. No, nor even God’s Son. Only the Father knows.

So why do we who are mere mortals think we can predict God’s return?

The bible also tells us in 2 Peter 3:8 (MSG)

Don’t overlook the obvious here, friends. With God, one day is as good as a thousand years, a thousand years as a day.

So why should we measure God’s return in our limited way. Thinking it is taking too long.

No one knows God’s return date. So we should not feel complacent and think that God’s word of his return is not true. Let us not even second guess God for a minute because of what non-believers may say. Let us remain focused and confident in the truth that we know that God will be coming back. We do not need to know when we just need to know he will and that God has perfect timing.

Verse 9 continues to tell us that He isn’t really being slow about his promised return, even though it sometimes seems that way. But he is waiting, for the good reason that he is not willing that any should perish, and he is giving more time for sinners to repent.

God knows what he is doing. Let us remain strong in our conviction and belief. Let us not allow the enemy to whisper in our ear through others that God’s word is a sham. God’s word is the truth. God words cannot harbor doubt. Let us remain steadfast and rest in His word that says… “If it seems slow, do not despair, for these things will surely come to pass. Just be patient! They will not be overdue a single day.
