If we ever need God’s help, he is there for us; we just need to acknowledge that he has total control. JPJ
We all are familiar with the saying that God helps those who help themselves. This is not a biblical truth but I dare to say that even though it is not biblical it is a concept that we should embrace. I would add also that God helps those who genuinely cannot help themselves.
God helps those who help themselves
Too many times we assume that because we are God’s children he will make our problems magically disappear, believing that it is okay to sit back and expect results without our input. That if we need a dollar, it will come to us by just sitting back and waiting and believing. Maybe by some stroke of luck it will who am I to say that it won’t, but what I would venture to say is that unless our faculties are not all together I believe that God expects that being proactive would be right up there alongside the faith that we have.
I believe that he will be more inclined to help when he sees our efforts working alongside our faith. God expects us to do our part while acknowledging him, believing in him and his help.
God helps those who genuinely cannot help themselves.
There are persons that I know in a far worst situation than I am, yet they seem to be able to do so much with the little they have. I am talking about that guy or girl without hands and real feet(for example) being able to rise above their challenges and be a role model to people worldwide. We can even use an example from the bible in Daniel being thrown in the lion’s den etc… all of these situations demonstrate God helping those who genuinely cannot help themselves. The bible reminds us that when we are not all we need to be that God will never forsake us, Isaiah 42:16 “I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them.”
God understands that we are human and that we fall short of what we ideally should be so he is always prepared to help us when we acknowledge him and desire his help. He also helps when we do not even realize. Titus 3:5 “he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy”.
Affirm: I acknowledge that God is in total control of my life. I will exercise my faith while moving forward in my day to day activities, knowing that if I need God’s help he will be right there with me.
Simply put faith without works is dead
