All of us have something to impart, from the newborn baby to the toddler just learning to appreciate life. The adolescent years where the confusion and rebellion against everything reigns. The teen years where we think we know what is best for us to the adult stage when we become overwhelmed by life itself.
Each stage has a different purpose but today I would like to reflect on my just turned four year old daughter who likes to share daily with me. I look forward to hearing from her, she recently told me that when there are 2 vowels in a word the second one is silent. I probably was not listening way back then but I appreciated the lesson and I told her as much.
She will say to me in a matter of fact voice that “mommy practice makes perfect” or “never give up” of course she has turned that one into a very catchy song.
I say all of that to say this, we can look to our children for reinforcement, encouragement and just that “feel good” feeling. Never discount how much positive energy they have to pass on to us. Spend time talking and sharing with them. Just as we teach them they can also teach us.
Affirm: I will listen more to my children, they too have wisdom and a simple, fun and innocent childlike way of reminding me of how I should be experiencing life. It is well and I am well.
