As I continue on my daily journey of self improvement, I learn more and more each day to appreciate life. I dream big dreams because I have a father who is ready and willing to bless me with good health, prosperity, unimaginable peace and strength to fight the enemy a thousand times over (because he will come at us a thousand times over). A father who is ready and willing to help me see how I can enlarge my capacity to love myself and most importantly others, I can’t help but want to do my part.
I want to grow each day and receive all that God has promised me. I want to significantly increase my drive and my willingness to serve Him in a new way each day, a way that I have not done before. There is no desire in me to sin and look in the direction of the world. I will not lie, while I am here on earth, I desire the best and believe that God wants to give me the best. I also rest, assured that I do have the best right now, so I will never complain about my life in this moment.
I have learned to not be like the Israelites but instead believe that I am where I have commanded for myself and where God wants me to be at this point. It therefore pushes me to dream bigger so that I can access a greater me and blessings to the point where others will wonder and be in awe and I will say “BUT GOD”….
And so I dream… I look at the bible and the many characters contained in it, Moses, Noah, Joshua, Joseph, Esther, the little servant girl whose master was Naaman and who can forget King David. I think these great people spoken in the bible are oftentimes overlooked as candidates for role models. I find myself reflecting on their personalities. Their obedience, resilience, leadership, strength, faith, steadfastness and so much more positives on the people of their generation. I can’t help but want to be like them and to have a relationship with God similar to their relationship with him.
So I find myself at times praying to be –
- Like King David who had so much faith and trust and love for God.
- Like Joshua who believed that God was all they (the Israelites) needed to fight that army.
- Joseph (I want to be like Joseph) who went through challenging situations and stood the test of time because he like so many of us understood the greatness inside him. He could see beyond the here and now and decided to “stand” irrespective of what life threw at him. He had resilience.
- Noah who despite facing ridicule knew there was a greater purpose to his mission and just chose to focus on the task at hand.
- Like Moses’ leadership ability (despite his speech impediment), his trust and faith in God to equip him to lead the Israelites from Egypt to the Promised Land.
- The servant girl who knew her heavenly father and knew he was capable of doing far more than we can imagine if we only believe.
- Esther who knew the position of influence God had given her and was able save her people through exercising her faith and trust despite what her circumstances were.
My desire to be like these great people in the bible grows each day and so I have decided that it’s not too late to change. Life evolves every single day and life is a constant learning curve that I welcome. So a new habit that I am forming is to pray to be like these great people who existed so many years ago. I want to be greater than I am today and like I always say life is a choice.
So let us pray and choose to be “influencers” in the 21st century. Let us take the bold move and step out of our comfort zone and believe that we can make a difference and have a positive impact in our lives and the lives of others.
Make a list and then a commit to carrying out the deep desires you have for yourself and the world in general. God is ready and willing to support.
LET’S DO IT!!!!!
