So as I lay here in bed having a conversation with my husband, you know that precious Saturday morning when things move a bit slower than normal – I said to him that it was time for us to start making the house we recently moved into feel like our home. We recently relocated (children and myself) to be with him as he was living in another country, but you know how men are when they live alone… They consider themselves “soldiers” they can live on the bare minimum, that was a huge challenge when I got to where he was. We had to do shopping for basic items that would make us comfortable but not necessarily create a homely environment. Just imagine one fork, one spoon, one juice cup, one hot beverage cup… I’m kidding, but seriously think two. So I suggested we consider getting some much needed items that would bring our personality into the house so we could start feeling like it was home. The women know what I am talking about… pictures, color coordinated cushions for the sofa, a nice entrance table with a mirror etc…
Then right there “smack dab” in the middle of our conversation I got inspired to share this thought:-
This world is not our home ;we consider this world to be our home. Of course our Heavenly Father wants us to be comfortable while we are here on earth but in “John 14:2-3 Jesus says – In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also”. God does not want us to be here thinking permanent; he does not want us to think for a moment that this life we are living is one of permanence. He told us he was going to prepare a place for us…a place that causes where we are right now to significantly pale in comparison to where we will be when He returns. “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived” the things God has prepared for those who love him 1 Corinthians 2:9
So it’s all well and good wanting to create that comfort right now but let us remember that we have a far better place to go to and when we get there it will be ready made, filled with all that we need , we will enter and feel right at home… No tweaking and fixing up and getting it just right will be necessary…it will be a place of comfort the perfect place to call home… we just need to do what it takes to get there, lets journey together.
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me .John14:6
