Proverbs 22:6
Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it.
So I am sitting here and thinking about what a big job we have as parents and what it is that God expects of us with regards to raising our children, this came to me:-
As earthly parents God entrusts us to take care of “his” children for the time we have them here on earth. What other way can we demonstrate our responsibility than by growing them to be God fearing individuals understanding their purpose here on earth (there are a lot of individuals walking around trying to figure out their “purpose” in life). Wouldn’t it be dismal if we have the opportunity now to share the good news with our children and neglect to do so.
Once we commit to training our children from young they will get it, they will understand their purpose and how God desires for them to live. Consistency is a word that I will be using often because I think it’s a lifestyle that we should all try and adopt. Just as Proverbs 22:6 says Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it (this speaks to consistency). If we consistently do the things that our heavenly father desires of us to do in training our children things such as: – praying with them, taking them to church to fellowship with others, loving them unconditionally, being there for them. Most of all be an example for them then God will take care of the rest.
We just need to do our part and believe that God is able and he will do the rest. We have no need to fear for them once we pray over them, God will do the rest…I repeat God will do the rest, have faith he will (can I share that I no longer fear for my children, I can only see great things in their future).
It is so profound when we learn to surrender and allow God to direct our actions and interactions (with our children), the peace and joy that we will experience. Try it and see. ..I dare you…
