The Intro

As a child, I was always concerned about getting into trouble; I had a heart that strived to do what was right. I believe my mother’s words were the driving force behind this constant thought that echoed in my childhood: “Whatever you do in the dark will come to light.” The words, the very essence of a Caribbean parent’s wisdom, instilled in me a sense of responsibility and accountability.

Fast forward—I remember working in the bank, and at times I would see police appear and escort a fellow staff member out of the building because he/she misappropriated the bank’s money. I often wonder, how can individuals steal and think they can get away with it, but not only that, what about the embarrassment to self and family and so I have always been one to walk the straight and narrow.

And so it was when I gave my life to Christ, an unyielding desire to do what is right took root in my soul. It became my unwavering purpose, an unbroken resolve that persisted through trials and temptations. Yes, there were moments when I faltered, when the call of temptation was too strong, and my intuition’s gentle guidance was ignored.

But as I matured spiritually, I grasped the profound truth that my actions alone did not define my righteousness. It was not my “good” deeds that made me righteous, but a precious gift bestowed upon me the day I accepted Christ as my Lord and Saviour. Righteousness, a divine garment, now clothed me automatically, a symbol of God’s boundless grace and love.
